Holker Old Boys made the long trip to FC Owestry Town on Saturday looking to pick up 3 points after a couple of disappointing results.
A glorious Saturday afternoon alongside a fantastic set up at ‘The Venue’ we were hoping for an improved performance.
The game was a tight affair until the 40th minute when after some sloppy Holker play FC Owestry broke on the counter attack and opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a well taken goal.
H/T
1-0
Holker wanted to make a fast start to the second half , look after the ball and use the wide pitch with our wing backs, although having conceded a corner , were left with a mountain to climb as the FC Owestry corner was whipped in and with a free header the second goal was conceded and FC Owestry’s T. Rowlands had scored his second.
2-0
Holker rang the changes with a couple of substitutions and started to put the opposition under pressure , eventually paying off in the 75th minute when after a great passage of play JP Stanway smashed a 20 yarder in the top corner, this gave Holker some renewed belief and two minutes later Jamie Pattinson struck home a well worked free kick to level the game.
2-2
Both teams were now looking for the winner, unfortunately for Holker they conceded a 3rd goal , FC Owestry’s B Price took a free kick from wide right , which sailed over everyone and into the top corner.
3-2
With Holker now going all out to rescue a point we were hit on the break again and C Harris made no mistake firing across the Holker keeper and into the bottom corner.
Final score
4-2
